My husband Eddie Nickless now deceased was the great grandson of Sarah Alice Edmeades and Henry William Nickless. I am trying to print this articl off but having no luck. I think Sarah Alice Edmeades was Henry’s sister. I also think one of the reasons for the Albion Brewery in Wellington becoming defunct was that he invested in the Terawhiti goldfields in Makara Wellington. The field was not a success. Also Henry Nickless was declared bankrupt the same year in Greytown, Wairarapa. There was a Daniel Edmeades in brewing there too. I think they were all financially connected

Cracking read Brett, I find it fascinating to read about Australia’s diverse brewing history, I am constantly amazed by the number of breweries that have been commisioned and their locations, Latrobe & Westbury are still very small towns but necessity is a strong motivator and it is clearly better to build a brewery than run the risk of running out of beer!
