James, the usage of the word "good" in your statement "$60 Adult (Entry + 10 Tokens) option — is probably a good way to start" appears to correlate to the more common definition of the word "bad". Certainly shelling out $40 which gets not so much as a slice of sausage on a stick or a drop of ale in a glass, then spending another $20 for ten tokens, two of which are required for a butcher's of beer (according to the official site for 2013), would be a very bad way to start one's beer festival. Indeed the entire concept of the festival is a poor one. I live on the doorstep on the Coonawarra, I think instead I'll venture there and enjoy premium cellar door tastings for free, where I need only pay for food and any wine I should purchase, instead of being fleeced merely to enter a glorified home brew festival, then being ripped off again if I should actually wish to taste any beer or food.

Hi Paula,

Based on last year’s experience, the ticket price is for entry only and all tastings/drinks/food are separate, which you need tokens for.

1 token will generally give you one tasting of a beer, strong beers will require 2 tokens. 5–8 tokens will get you food. Buying tickets with tokens included — such as the $60 Adult (Entry + 10 Tokens) option — is probably a good way to start so you can avoid the need to line-up for token once you have entered the festival.

Inside the festival they will have various points of sale for more tokens, so you can stock up on more during the day as you need them.

Most people seemed to buy around 20–30 tokens at a time to cover them for a range of beer sampling and some food & water too.

Hello,

I was wondering if you could explain to me how the tickets are sold.
It doesn’t give much information on the website.
Eg: Adult ticket and 10 tokens? Are the tokens for the tastings or are tasting included in the entry price?

Once i find out more, I will buy 2 tickets.
