Phil has inspired and challenged many of us. His genetic code lives on at the Spoetzl Brewery, in Shiner, TX, too in its Hefeweizen as well as with some important brewery engineering decisions (Phil did his M.Sc. at the Univ. of Birmingham’s famed brewing science department after completing his Australian military service as a fighter pilot). And you can see elements of his brewing philosophy and practicality at this new brewery in the northeastern corner of Pennsylvania at the foot of the Appalachian mountains. Little Creatures exemplifies what the man can do in beer, and his biodynamic wines from his estate in the Yarra Valley are extraordinary. Phil is an Australian Icon.…we’ll see him on a postage stamp one day.

Great post Pete! Would love to have been there and in BridgePort when Phil introduced the new brew. Great to see great international craft finding our shores in good hands and condition. Good for growth and celebration of craft brewing. Cheers Dermott
