Learn to make craft beer at Brisbane’s Fluid Festival

Fluid2014

FLUID Festival patrons will be able to add brewer’s assistant to their CVs after attending Pig ‘N’ Whistle’s upcoming craft beer and cider festival on Saturday January 25, 2014.

Festival goers will be invited to join leading craft brewers from Little Creatures and White Rabbit in creating a special beer at the festival, which they can then drink a month later to sample their hard work.

The unique beer, titled Pig ‘N’ Whistle in honour of the Fluid Festival’s location, will be an all-grain beer made on site in a 20 litre Braumeister kit from Germany.

This will be the first time this has been done in Brisbane and at a beer festival.

This is just one of the many exciting activities event organiser Barrel Media, (publishers of Beer Lovers Guide to Australia and Australian Cider Guide) have lined up for the day.

There will be around 50 of Australia’s top beers and ciders on rotation throughout the day.

The free festival – which runs as an indoor and outdoor event – will start at 11am on Saturday January 25, 2014.

The festival will allow guests to be able to sample a number of carefully selected new and great craft beers and ciders from a wide array of local producers.

Pig ‘N ‘Whistle CEO Arj Rupesinghe said this year there will be a number of free sessions with the brewers and cider makers where people can ask questions about the beverages and makers.

“We’re really pleased to be working with some of Australia’s top and up-and-coming brewers and cider makers,” Mr Rupesinghe said. “We have beers coming from producers in Cairns, Western Australia, Sydney and a great focus on local brewers from the South East Queensland.

“Great food will be also be available, with a special menu paired with selected beers. There will be plenty of entertainment on the day with a stage set up featuring a live band and guest speakers.

Barrel Media’s, Mark Midro said Fluid Festival is a great opportunity for friends to get together and sample some excellent Australian craft beers and ciders.

“It will be dedicated to the finest aspects of good beer and cider, looking at introducing visitors to a wide variety of flavours and style with an emphasis on tasting, education and enjoyment, rather than consumption.”

To be held on Brisbane’s Riverside at the Pig ‘N’ Whistle at Eagle Street, visitors will be treated to more than 50 taps of craft beer and cider, as well as education and food matching sessions.

Mr Midro said craft beer continues to grow strongly, and consumer interest has never been higher.

“Beer drinkers are becoming more and more adventurous and festivals such as Fluid give them a chance to try a wide range of beers while learning more about them.”

“We have seen such an explosion of Australian craft beer and breweries over the last few years, and around Australia Day seems the perfect time to celebrate the local brewing industry.”

Pig ‘N’ Whistle is offering a range of presale discounts and offers for tokens before the day. To take advantage of the discounts or for more information visit www.fluidfestival.com.au.
