With events on Melbourne’s streets, in snooker halls, on surfboards and even on moving trains, Good Beer Week 2014 has revealed its biggest and most eclectic lineup to date.

Spearheading the festival’s regional travel itinerary is The Beer Train, held on Victoria’s iconic Puffing Billy. Passengers will be served award-winning brews from Portland’s Deschutes and Victorian locals Hargreaves Hill, matched with four delicious courses, as Billy passes through the stunning Dandenong Ranges.

For Game of Cones aboard the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, Colonial Brewing Co.’s Justin Fox & Paul Wyman pair up with beer guru Beersine’s Mitch Mitchell for a dining experience like no other. The collaboration sees the coupling of the brewers’ favourite hop driven beers with Mitch’s culinary delights. After testing their Lupulin Thresholds*, punters will alight and enjoy a final surprise at iconic venue, the Botanical.

The Red Ball Snooker Shootout event at Red Triangle in Fitzroy provides a relaxed atmosphere for a good old-fashioned snooker shootout with brewers from Mornington Peninsula’s Red Hill Brewery. The iconic pool hall, which houses full-size snooker tables, still maintains its original charm circa 1977. The Red Hill brewers are also inviting beer lovers to Surf With The Brewers: join them for a wave at a secret Peninsula surf spot, followed by a few après-surf brews and a BBQ.

And for an event that has no venue but instead takes to the streets of Melbourne’s inner north, the team from the Fox Hotel will host the popular Good Beer Scavenger Hunt. This hysterical pursuit will send teams on challenges such as street karaoke to earn clues that can lead to craft beer prizes – found in the most unexpected of places.

Good Beer Week will take place next month, from 17 – 25 May 2014. Described by international brewers as ‘the best beer week in the world’, the festival has grown almost 400 per cent since launching in May 2011.

* Named after the lupulin found in hop flowers, a beer drinker’s Lupulin Threshold relates to how much bitterness they enjoy in their beer.
