Beer festival season is definitely upon as this weekend sees major beer new festivals hitting both Brisbane and Melbourne.

Melbourne’s takes place in the confines (no pun intended) ofD Division at Pentridge Prison, in the shadow ofits famous gallows.

Unlike many of the festivals cropping up, entry price comes in the form of a gold coin donation and all profits will be going to Melbourne City Mission.

Walk through one of Australia’s more famous prisons and now notorious beer gardens and indulge in a fantastic journey of sampling and tasting some of the best craft beers and ciders available in Australia. Meet and chat to the craft brewers, who will take over Pentridge D Division cells, on this interesting beer trail, as the adventure winds itself around this unique and history filled space. Stimulate more than your taste buds as you discover the world where some of Australia’s more notorious prisoners were housed. Prisoners like Chopper Read, Ronald Ryan, Squizzy Taylor, Dennis Allen and more.

In addition to the craft brewers, there will be live music with Matt-Peter Fry, great foodprovided by Aussie Farmers Direct, The Glass Den café and prison tours of the “Notorious” D Division conducted by an ex prison warden. There will also be a home brew demonstration by the Merri Mashers. The Mashers will be brewing their anhcfour Ultimate Session Beer from 2pm.

A competition to win a fridge full of craft beer is up for grabs as the door prize. The Glass food vouchers will also be available to win on the day.

Entry is by way of a gold coin donation with proceeds going to the Melbourne City Mission.
