Good Beer Week Gala Showcase – 23 Breweries at Fitzroy Town Hall
Good Beer Week is back for its the fifth year and is set to be a cracker. To get people in the mood, the second pre-festival event off the rank is the Good Beer Week Gala Showcase on March 13th to 14th in the spectacular Fitzroy Town Hall. A total of 23 breweries from Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia – including some new this year – will present their finely crafted brews.
Among the breweries is two-time winner of the People’s Choice Award at past Gala Showcases, Boatrocker, who will debut the latest vintage of their Imperial Stout Ramjet as well as brand new Banshee Barley Wine.
Feral Brewing from Western Australia will be pouring their new Brewpub Series release, and Melbourne’s very own Exit Brewing, will be showcasing the latest version of its popular Saison and a brand new Double IPA. Red Duck, from Ballarat, will have an array of new brews including Cactus, Sex in a Barrel, Neeps & Tatties and more.
The Gala Showcase will also be giving people the opportunity to sample brews from Melbourne’s newest, hi-tech brewery, Hawkers, from Reservoir.
Sponsored by City of Yarra, the Gala Showcase also acts as the launch of the 2015 Official Festival Program and is the perfect introduction to the festival described by international brewers as ‘the best beer week in the world’.
For the first time, the Gala Showcase will take place over a Friday and Saturday and sees food trucks, including Hammer & Tong and Beatbox Kitchen, added to the mix.
Venue capacity is limited to 300 beer lovers per session so be sure to secure a spot quick. Tickets cost $40 + BF or $45 on the door and include a tasting booklet, 20 x 60ml beer samples and a food voucher to be redeemed at the food trucks.
