CUB cuts ties with Byron Bay

Byron-Bay-carton-front_thumb.jpgTwelve months after it attracted censure from the ACCC, Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) has ended its partnership with Byron Bay Brewery.

CUB has decided it is going to invest in its proprietary brands, Tim Ovadia, the company’s general manager insight & marketing capability, told Australian Brews News exclusively.

“We had a partnership with Byron Bay to distribute their brands over the last 12-18 months. We had a good working relationship with Barry [Schadel – founder] and his team, we just amicably decided to end our partnership,” Ovadia said.

“Barry’s got big plans for what he wants to do with his brewery, which I’m sure you’ll talk to him about in time.”

Ovadia said the decision had “nothing to do” with the ACCC decision and was more about CUB “being determined to drive and build the brands that we own outright”.
