Warnie beer didn’t sell, declares manager

There was no spin offered by Shane Warne’s manager, when asked why the cricketer’s SKW 99 Not Out Pale Ale would not feature this summer.

“Sales were much lower than expected and it’s not worth SKW or Moa ploughing in the same effort if the big retailers were not going to get behind it,” Sports & Entertainment Limited’s James Erskine told Australian Brews News.

Like Moa CEO Geoff Ross, Erskine said the beer may get relaunched at a later date.

“It’s a shame as it was a bloody good beer, but I suspect a little pricey for the general market,” Erskine said.

Also this month, Moa launched another sport-themed beer, ‘Four More Years’, brewed after New Zealand’s 2011 Rugby World Cup win.

The 12.1 per cent Guatemala coffee-infused imperial stout was aged for four years in French oak barrels, and has been released to coincide with the 2015 World Cup.
