Another new brewery for Tassie

Huon Valley’s Church Hill Brewery is the latest in a spate of new breweries opening in Tasmania.

Founder Bradley Churchill told Australian Brews News he expects to begin production in Ranelagh by the end of this month.

“I have been a passionate homebrewer for the past 20 years and have spent the last five and a half years pursuing my dream of opening a brewery,” he said.

“My favourite types of beer are hop driven Pale Ales and IPAs. Tassie is growing some fantastic hops out at Hop Products Australia so there is definitely going to be a Pale Ale featuring some of those hops at launch.

“I love many styles of beer though and also look forward to brewing one-offs and seasonals.”

Churchill’s background is in the construction and shipbuilding industry and he built the small unit on his property that will accommodate the new brewery.

Church Hill is Huon Valley’s firstbrewery and joins leading cider maker Willie Smith’s and top wineries such as Home Hill in the region.

No less than half a dozen new breweries have set up in Tasmania since the Tasmanian Beer Trail launched in June last year.
