Craft Beer Awards entries closing

The Craft Beer Awards celebrate the best of Australian Brewing. Established in 2014, the Craft Beer Awards has established itself as one of the highlights on the annual brewers’ calendar. This year’s celebrations will be held on Thursday 27 July at the iconic Adelaide Oval.

Competitions have many benefits for the industry: quality improvement, professional development for participants, and providing further marketing opportunities for the successful beers. Putting “Champion Australian Craft Beer” on the side of a bottle is a coup for any brewer.

The Craft Beer Awards judge eight (8) categories with trophies being awarded to the best beer in each category. The trophy winners are then judged against each other with the winner taking the prestigious title of Champion Australian Craft Beer.

Organised by the Craft Beer Industry Association (CBIA), the Craft Beer Awards are the only national craft beer competition dedicated to showcasing Australia’s craft beer industry. The inaugural Craft Beer Awards were held in 2014 to encourage and support excellence in the industry. Judged by Australia’s most highly respected brewers and educators, the Craft Beer Awards are an invaluable platform for Australia’s brewers to benchmark against the best in the business.

Entries to the awards are open to any craft brewers in Australia. For the 2017 awards, the CBIA defines a craft brewery as one producing less than 40 million litres per annum.

Since 2014, the Craft Beer Awards have grown exponentially. In 2014, the Craft Beer Awards received 286 beer entries from 78 breweries. In 2016, the entries were cut off at 600, and beer entries were received from 126 breweries. In 2017, entries will be cut off at 700.

Entries close midnight Friday 9 June.
