Ian Watson

Ian Watson Beer lover, beer judge, professional brewer and Australia's first professional beer sommelier: beer is lan's passion and obsession. Ian believes that there is a beer for every person, meal, moment and mood, he loves nothing better than to help people track down that special beer. Ian holds a special place in the Australian beer scene becoming the first professional beer sommelier in Australia when he took up a residency at the Oropa Beer Cafe at Toowoomba's famous Spotted Cow Hotel in 2005. Ian has hosted innumerable beer dinners and tastings in venues around Australia and has been a judge at the Sydney Royal Show beer competition, the National Festival of Beer and the Australian Beer Festival Awards. He has been profiled in national newspapers and magazines and been a guest speaker at events such as Shout!, the National Festival of Beer and the Sydney Barshow. Beer has also allowed Ian to travel to countries such as France, England, the United States and Belgium. He has observed beer culture, trends and styles around the world and advised on beer productions for television.
