The family-owned and family-operated Mountain Ridge Wines near Berry, south of Wollongong, has recently diversified into beer-making. The vineyard was planted in 2007 by Barry and Monique Starkey and their sons, and in mid-2009 they added Mountain Ridge Brewery to their operation.
Barry brews in 300 litre batches, using a custom-built stainless steel system, and currently produces two styles: a pale ale called Broughton Ale, and a chocolate porter called Bolong Black, both named after nearby localities.
Mountain Ridge beers are available to drink on the premises (while enjoying the panoramic view of the Shoalhaven River and the Pacific Ocean), or to take away in 330mL and 650mL bottles.
