Brewing with Wheat special offer

Anyone with an interest in homebrewing will probably have heard of Brew Like a Monk, Stan Hieronymus’ paean to—and handbook for—brewing classic Belgian-styled beers yourself. It’s a classic text for the homebrewer, or any serious beer enthusiast who wants to understand Trappist, Abbey and strong Belgian ales. Stan’s next book, Brewing with Wheat, is to be released on 15 February and publisher Brewers Publications have a special offer for pre-sales. Customers who order Brewing with Wheat between now and February 22 will get a 20% discount of the USD 17.95 cover price.

The book promises to take the reader to the ancestral homes of the world’s most interesting styles—Hoegaarden, Kelheim, Leipzig, Berlin and even Portland, Oregon—to sort myth from fact and find out how the beers are made today.

From the publisher’s release:
“Complete with brewing details and recipes for even the most curious brewer and answers to compelling questions such as ‘Why is my beer cloudy?’ and ‘With or without lemon?’”

“Stan Hieronymus is one of America’s leading writers on beer and brewing. He has authored or contributed to more than ten books, including the successful 2005 release of Brew Like a Monk. His work appears regularly in many periodicals, including All About Beer magazine, DRAFT and Imbibe. Hieronymus is the editor of RealBeer.com.”

We’re yet to see a copy of it at Australian Brews News, but to get a feel for Hieronymus’ style you can visit his blog which leads with this ever expanding list of Beer Rules:

New Beer Rules

RULE #1: When you open a beer for a vertical tasting and there is rust under the cap it’s time to seriously lower your expectations for what’s inside the bottle.

RULE #2: A beer consumer should not be allowed to drink a beer with IBU higher than her or his IQ.

RULE #3: You must drink at least two servings of a beer before you pass judgment on it.

RULE #4: The god of beer is not consistency.

RULE #5: It is only beer

RULE #6: The best beer was in the empty glass.

RULE #7: Beer is not the new wine.

RULE #8: More beer, less analysis.

RULE #9: You cannot know all there is to know about beer.
