The site, The Crafty Pint, launched last week with the aim of being the essential guide (after Brews News, of course) to Australian craft beer.
Created by freelance journalist and beer lover, James Smith, the site initially aims to cover Victoria’s craft brewing scene but has plans to expand to cover all of Australia.
Unlike many beer websites, The Crafty Pint contains primarily original content about beer and avoids merely republishing uncurated web links from across the web or highly subjective beer reviews. The site also focuses on genuine craft beer, ignoring the mainstream breweries and the many contract brewers entering the market.
While operating commercially and charging featured breweries, bars and bottleshops a small annual subscription fee to be featured, the site maintains a fiercely independent editorial policy and aims to be an authoritative and highly credible source of news on the exciting Australian craft beer scene. In this is succeeds admirably.
Although just launched, the site has been developed over six months and already contains a wealth of original information about beer and brewing in addition to the sponsored content.
In addition to information about the best breweries, bars and bottleshops, The Crafty Pint contains:
- The latest news from the Australian craft beer scene
- Writing from beer bloggers and people within the craft beer industry
- Beer-related features, from Q&As with beer people to beer and food recipes
- Craft beer events
- Information about one-off and seasonal beers advising when and where they’ll be tapped to make sure beer drinkers need never miss a drop
Australian Brews News highly recommends The Crafty Pint as one of the best beer information sites on the web.
