Brisbane getting its Yeastie on
Brisbane beer lovers have a chance to get all Yeastie tomorrow night with a unique tasting of beers from New Zealand’s Yeastie Boys brewery, while getting to speak with Yeastie Boy Stu McKinlay live via Skype.

The event, to be held at Kerbside Bar – recently listed in the Brisbane Good Beer Guide – will feature nine beer samples from Yeastie Boys and Invercargill Brewery, together with light snacks and plenty of prizes, including Yeastie Boys prize packs and copies of the new edition of the Beer Lovers Guide to Australia.
Beers to be tasted include the latest arrivals of:
Pot Kettle Black – A black IPA or a hoppy porter – you make the call.
Hud-a-wa Strong – An English Strong Ale
Rex Attitude – Made with 100% peated whisky malt. Some call them crazy, some call them geniuses – you make the call.
Her Majesty 2011 – A new world Maerzen-Saisony sort of thing. “Dedicated to the pricks at the large breweries who employ fantastic female brewers but then demean them with senseless sexist advertising (a curse on your yeast!)”
Wasp – A honey pilsner. “We blended four malts and two hops with Kamahi honey from the Catlins Forest to craft an authentic taste of New Zealand.”
Pitch Black – Stout. “Deep colour and rich hints of chocolate and coffee yet dry enough to want another pint”
Stanley Green – Pale Ale. “A pale bronze colour, hints of fruitcake and a dry hoppy finish are all crammed into this traditionally styled ale.”
Men’nskurrts – Scotch Strong Ale. “Invercargill was originally a Scottish settlement (even our streets are named after Rivers in Scotland) and Southland is the only area in New Zealand which is credited as having a local accent – the rolling of the R. Hence the Strong Scotch Ale, a nod from Invercargill Brewery to our city founders.
Sa!son – The latest addition to their seasonal range is a traditional French farmhouse ale. Sold out in New Zealand.
As far as we can establish, this will be the first tasting by Skype held in Australia.
