Call for entries 2011 Royal Queensland beer show

State-based beer competitions are starting to develop some momentum. Sydney’s highly respected competition and Perth’s are probably the most established, but newcomers Adelaide and Brisbane are also establishing themselves on the competition circuit.

While none of the State-based competitions aims to match the size and reach of the Australian International Beer Awards, as we have noted previously the state competitions are often run as part of wider food and wine shows. Beer’s inclusion in these events amongst other gourmet products raises the awareness of beer within food circles. In growing the market for good beer it is as important that the food and beverage industry be introduced to and educated about the possibilities of beer as much as consumers. In that sense these competitions are as much about growing the market for all beer as they are about winning bragging rights for individual brewers.
