Batlow Apples launches Batlow Premium Cider

While cider continues to witness the strongest growth in the Australian liquor market, more and more offerings are hitting the shelves and the quality of these offerings is constantly improving. This week sees the launch of Batlow Premium Cider from one of Australia’s most famous apple growing regions. The good news is that the cider is produced entirely from crushed apples, albeit culinary varieties as opposed to cider varieties. More importantly the product has not been adulterated by the addition of sugar or water. (TB)

Batlow Apples launches Batlow Premium Cider

Batlow Brewing Company, a joint collaboration between Batlow Apples and Sydney based Coombes Bros, has perfected and launched its Batlow Premium Cider, handcrafted from a carefully selected blend of the best quality Australian-grown Batlow Apples.

As a premium Australian cider handcrafted from 100% freshly crushed Batlow Apples, including varieties such as Pink Lady, Fuji, Braeburn, Royal Gala and Granny Smith, Batlow Premium Cider is a unique offering within the category, boasting a distinctively crisp and refreshing flavour profile.

Batlow Brewing Company’s “minimal intervention” approach to their cider-making process ensures there are more than 3 ½ Batlow Apples in every bottle, resulting in one of the freshest tasting ciders on the market, and unlike many commercial ciders, contains no concentrates or added sugars and is gluten free.

Rich Coombes, Director for the Batlow Brewing Company, said: “Producing top quality cider requires top quality apples. The use of only the best produce from Batlow Apples and the ability to press and bottle our cider locally ensures that every bottle will be of exceptional quality and taste. We have a vision of turning Australia’s favourite apples into Australia’s favourite cider!”

Batlow Premium Cider has a light golden appearance with fine bubbles from natural carbonation. The aroma is fresh, fragrant apples with a hint of earthiness. The taste gives a mild, refreshing sweetness followed by a light grip on the back palate and a clean medium dry finish, resulting in a well-balanced, fresh tasting cider.

With the growing popularity of cider in Australia yet only a handful of local producers, a cider made from iconic Batlow Apples will give Australian cider-lovers a product to own and enjoy.

Batlow Premium Cider has an alcohol level of 5.5 per cent and will be available in 330ml bottles in four-packs and cartons of 24 bottles, as well as on tap in selected venues.

Batlow Premium Cider is available in select bottle shops throughout NSW and ACT including Camperdown Cellars (all locations), Corkscrew Cellars (all locations), Plonk and Kemenys. The premium cider will also be served in handpicked on-premise venues including The Passage, Low 302, Firefly Wine & Tapas, Four in Hand, The Shop & Wine Bar, Hotel Steyne’s Moonshine Cider & Rum Bar, Paperbark Camp, The Carrington, Chapter One Wine & Coffee, Heavy Feather and The Australian Youth Hotel. Batlow Brewing Company has plans for limited distribution of Batlow Premium Cider into other states by years end.
