Newcastle Craft Beer Week 2011

Of all of the beer festivals running around the country these days, the one that the brewers themselves regularly refer to as a ‘must attend’ is the Warners @ The Bay festival. Run for the past five years in conjunction with the Warners at the Bay Hotel and Bottleshop, the event is a well-organised and fun gathering of the beery tribes.

This year, in keeping with the emergence of the ‘craft beer week’, the one day event has morphed into the Newcastle Craft Beer Week. The week has been developed by the passionate beer-loving Newcastle Hotelier Corey Crooks from the Albion Hotel and his mate and fellow beer lover (and man behind the Warners Festival) Mark Mead, manager of the excellent craft beer store Warners @ The Bay.

The first year is jam packed with activity across Newcastle’s best beer venues and has the the vision to grow the event each year to be bigger and better with the possibility of creating ‘The Newcastle Beer Awards’ with an awards presentation dinner in future years, plus bringing in guest speakers from overseas.

The event will even feature a screening of Beer Wars, featuring the biggest discussion panel of brewers ever assembled in Australia*.
