Scratch that beer itch Brisbane

The craft beer insurgency in Brisbane continues to grow strength as the inner-city beer Guerrilla’s continue to fight the good fight for great beer. Now another specialty beer bar has opened in the shadow of Queensland’s iconic XXXX Brewery sign.

The Scratch has been set up by three beer loving blokes wanting to celebrate small independent brewers.

“We aim to support the independent and encourage the rejection of brand loyalty in favour of a constantly rotating draught and bottled beer menu,” co-owner Ben Nichols said.

Sharing the opening week menu with us, he said:

“The menu will be constantly updated as there’s nothing more we hate in a place than ordering something that isn’t in stock. If we get caught out on that, it’s 20 lashes and a XXXX Gold for us.”

PRESS RELEASE: NEW BRISBANE BAR – THE SCRATCH

Craft beer dive ‘The Scratch’ lurks in the shadow of Queensland’s brewing behemoth. We aim to support the independent and encourage the rejection of brand loyalty in favour of a constantly rotating draught and bottled beer menu. No pretension, no dress code and no pub cover bands, just damn good drinkin’.

The bar is located at the bottom of Park Rd, Brisbane’s best fake Euro wine ‘em and dine ‘em restaurant strip. What we lack in giant novelty world wonder replicas, we make up for with good beer and no bullshit.

Owned and operated by 3 classless beer lovers, the joint is fiercely independent and will maintain a ‘freehouse’ philosophy, with no tap contracts in sight. A carefully selected draught and bottle range will highlight many styles from many craft brewers sourced both on the doorstep and internationally. Carefully paired with some of the country’s most drool-worthy farmhouse cheeses, we’re making it pretty bloody easy for you to drink better.

Open every day, from lunch until midnight. Capacity of 60. For further information, contact info@scratchbar.com
