Number nine in the Critics’ Choice Top 100 is the Mountain Goat Hightail Ale.
Almost qualifying as the grand-daddy of the current craft beer revival, Mountain Goat Brewery’s reputation continues to build. At the forefront of Australia’s craft beer movement for so long this beer is a great example of why they keep winning fans.
Handcrafted with care and free of preservatives, additives and pasteurisation. The brewer’s notes describe the Hightail Ale as ‘an English inspired amber ale. It has a rich malt body and floral hop aroma.’
Beer Diva, Kirrily Waldhorn, describes is as ‘an English style real ale with delightful toffee notes supported by soft floral English hop characters is an exceptional partner to a cloth-bound cheddar or a rich pork belly!’
The Critics’ Choice voting panel was made up of 39 of Australia’s leading beer connoisseurs. Each panellist was asked to vote for their favourite beers in order to create a list of the top 100 beers in Australia.
Select venues around the country will be launching the Critics’ Choice by featuring the top 12 beers on March 30.
