Celebrity Brew Day at True South

True South celebrity brew bannerOn Saturday 14 April, True South will host celebrity home brewers, Charlie Pickering and Danny McGingley, along with Australia’s first woman of beer, Kirrily Waldhorn, for an open brew day.

The idea for this celebrity brew day was born on stage at the Ballarat Beer Festival back in January. MC’s Charlie and Danny entertained the crowd with a blind tasting that featured True South’s head brewer, Sam Fuss. After sampling a Celtic Red Ale brewed by keen home brewers Pickering and McGinlay, Sam extended the invitation to the TV and comedy celebrities to professionally brew one of their humble beers at True South.

The genesis of True South’s celebrity brew, a blind tasting at the Ballarat Beer Festival

Charlie Pickering & Danny McGinlay met in 2001 on the Melbourne comedy circuit. In 2009 they formed McGickering’s Brewing Industries, “the world’s leading comedic homebrewing enterprise”, at home with the basic home brewing essentials.

Joined by fellow-MC from the Ballarat Beer Festival, Beer Diva Kirrily Waldhorn, they will put their amateur skills to the ultimate test by brewing a Raspberry Saison at the True South microbrewery in Black Rock, Melbourne.

Everyone is welcome to come along to this free event. You can watch the brewing action and chat with the brewers whilst enjoying the True South hospitality of beer and food.
