Liquid Gold To Flow As The Ballarat Beer Festival Brewers Are Announced Ballarat Beer Festival 2013

It was announced today that following the enormous success of the Ballarat Beer Festival in 2012, over 40 brewers will be showcasing Australia’s best boutique beers and ciders for 2013’s festival on January 19th. The numbers of brewers represented has doubled, which leaves no doubt that the Ballarat Beer Festival is the original and favoured festival of its kind in Victoria.

All of the brewers that were present for 2012 will return for 2013, with the day being a runaway success. The brewers arecurrently planning the range of liquid gold they will have on offer for the day and the festival team are poised to announce a fantastic lineup of music artists who will provide the entertainment for the hottest festival in Victoria for summer 2013.

After a sell out event in 2012, the organisers are anticipating an even bigger turnout of locals, Melbournians and Victorians on the picturesque Ballarat City Oval. The success of year one has seen the day quickly establish itself as a highly anticipated annual event on the city’s entertainment calendar.

A celebration of Ballarat, boutique beer, gourmet food and great Australian entertainment, the Ballarat Beer Festival Team will ensure that all of the much talked about features of this year’s festival are again included, with many new and exciting additions as the festival grows.

Returning for 2013 are James Squire, Little Creatures, Matilda Bay, Mountain Goat, Pipsqueak Cider, Yowie (King Valley), Bridge Road Brewers, Good Brew Company, Holgate Brewhouse, Old Mout Cider, Red Duck, Three Troupers, Buckleys Beer, Coldwater Creek, Hawthorn Brewing, Kooinda Boutique Brewery, Mornington Peninsula Brewery, Prickley Moses (Otway Brewing), Rebellion Brewery, True South and Tooborac Hotel and Brewery.

“The organization was fabulous and the crowd was a winner- it created a happy drinking and talking vibe. Loved it- that’s why we’re back,” said Grant Dow fromTrue South.

For year two The Ballarat Beer Festival will welcome 321 Learmonth Cider, Bellarine Brewing Company, Boatrocker, Brookes Beer, Cavalier Brewing, Cavalier Courage Ale, Flying Brick Cider, Golden Axe, Grand Ridge, Kwencher (The Beltz Group), Mildura Brewery, Moo Brew, Napoleone & Co Cider, Old Salt Brewing Co, Red Hill Brewery, Savarain Brewery, SouthernBay, The Hills Cider, Two Birds Brewing and William Bull Brewery.

Steve Hendersonfrom Southern Bay Brew Co added, “I consider Ballarat to be the home of beer knowledge in Australia and I’m proud to be an alumni!”

2013 will see the festival showcasing more bands, more breweries and more summer fun for the entire family. With so much more on offer, the Ballarat Beer Festival will be held over a greater area of the city oval and the logistics involved are a massive undertaking for the festival team, which only cements the Ballarat Beer Festival as Victoria’s absolute pick of its kind.

The 40+ brewers will bring 600 kegs of liquid gold on site, with a combined weight of 37,500kg. The largest gold nugget discovered during the region’s famous gold rush in the 1800s was the Welcome Nugget, which was unearthed in 1858 weighing 68.98kg. The Ballarat Beer Festival will therefore be offering the equivalent to 544 Welcome Nuggets as kegs of liquid gold.

“There’s a passion for great beer and the social vibe it creates. The best beer in the world is accessible by everyone; it’s literally every man’s (and woman’s of course) beverage. It’s about friends, stories, being social and exploring flavours,” said Grant Dow of True South.
