THE BALLARAT BEER FESTIVAL ARTISTS ARE ANNOUNCED
BALLARAT BEER FESTIVAL 2013

The music line-up for the 2013 Ballarat Beer Festival was announced today. This year’s bill of top-notch entertainment will complement over 40 brewers showcasing Australia’s best boutique beers and ciders for 2013’s festival on January 19th. With the musical line-up announced today, and the selection of craft beers and ciders on offer, the festival is shaping up to be the must have ticket for summer 2013 and is set to sell out in advance of the day.

The Beards will headline next January’s Ballarat Beer Festival.

Headlining this year’s festival is folk-rock band, The Beards. The concept is simple – all of their songs are about beards. With a three-album back catalogue, Ballarat is one of the stops on their musical journey to make the world a more “beard-friendly” place. The Beards have gained a cult following in Australia after touring the nation and playing the big festivals relentlessly over the last few years.

The Beards were included on the list of Triple J’s Hottest 100, and over 2 million people have viewed their YouTube Channel. They were nominated for an APRA Award in 2012 and their latest tour sold out nationally and received rave reviews.

Local Ballarat bands Gold Fields, and Tessa and the Typecast will come home to be part of the state’s original and best festival of its kind. Both are favourites and on high rotation on the playlists at Triple J.

Ever since their track ‘Treehouse’ was plucked out of the music houses of Ballarat, Gold Fields has been travelling a hectic road to success. Their dance-pop, rhythmic and high-energy combination have delivered them a rapidly growing fan base in Ballarat and around Australia. Regulars on Triple J, a UK gig and having recorded in LA, Gold Fields are riding the crest of a rather impressive wave.

Tessa and the Typecast have fast become one of the most talked about bands in the music industry in Australia. The five piece band blend indie pop with traditional instruments – the piano and the ‘cello – for a tasty fusion that will have festivalgoers swooning to their sounds.

A regular feature of Melbourne’s underground swing scene, The Royal Jelly Dixie Band will bring a mix of old and new, think Melbourne pop meets New Orleans old school. As the frontline of horns duke it out, the rhythm section cooks up raucous blues and tongue-in-cheek Dixieland.

Hailing from Geelong, the Sweethearts are not to be missed. Sweethearts play neo soul – a fusion of styles based on what we’ve come to know as classic soul. This schoolgirl soul band, have been playing loving homage to Motown for over fifteen years. With a mix of originals and re-worked classic sounds, this 20+ piece, all girl power show will rock the stage at the Ballarat Beer Festival.

Cherry Bar favourite, DJ Vince Peach will whet your musical appetite by spinning some original 45s and unearthing some soul gems.

Get your crew together and make plans to be at the Ballarat Beer Festival at City Oval on January 19.

With even more to be announced in the coming weeks, year two will build upon the success of 2012’s inaugural festival, which proved the talk of the town and beyond. Whether returning to experience year two or making this Ballarat Beer Festival your first, prepare to sit back, relax and enjoy the tunes, the gourmet produce and of course liquid gold, in picturesque Ballarat and in style.

“The Ballarat Beer Festival’s blend of beer, food, entertainment and location was like a fine craft beer – well balanced, characterful and just the right length on the finish”.
