Ipswich’s 4 Hearts Brewing takes the challenge to the big boys

A new brew from 4 Hearts Brewing will be hitting the taps this week at Yamanto Tavern and at the new Alehouse24, replacing the foreign owned Hahn Light from Lion Nathan.

Aptly named ‘Ipswich Challenger’ it’s a full-bodied pale ale using the English hop variety Challenger and an English yeast. The beer is designed to be easy drinking but also maintain the full taste you would expect from a craft beer. At 2.9% alcohol it’s great for those that want to enjoy a fresh, quality craft beer but also need to drive.

The founder of 4 Hearts Brewing, Wade Curtis says, “I have always wanted to do a mid-strength/light beer, these types of beers are such a huge part of the beer market in Queensland. The larger foreign owned brewers have this market stitched up and what I want to do is to give Ipswich beer drinkers a locally owned option that tastes great.”

Wade brewed a ‘test’ keg for Yamanto Tavern and the locals loved it. Peter Coultas, Yamanto Tavern’s Manager, rang after it went on tap and said he wanted 8 kegs delivered as soon as possible.

As well as the new light brew you can expect to continue to see 4 Hearts Brewing Pale Ale permanently on tap at Yamanto as well as some new brews like the Wein Lager, Summer Wheat and the super charged IPA.

Other Local pubs have been getting behind the local brewer with The Strand Hotel and the Ulster Hotel also stocking 4 Hearts Beers on tap at their pubs.

You can also find 4 Hearts Brewing on tap in Brisbane from time to time at The Stones Corner Hotel, The Scratch Bar, Tipplers Tap, The Burrow, The Hideaway, Archive, Bitter Suite and Tipplers Tap.
