The Critics' Choice: Australia's Best Beers release

Australian representative Tong Master, International Beer Awards host, Radio Brews News Executive Producer, and now Editor-in-Chief of The Critics’ Choice: Australia’s Best Beer….is there anything Pete Mitcham can’t do?

CC_Cover_2012The 2012 edition is about to be released and will once again be the definitive guide to Australia’s best beers of last year, as voted by the nation’s leading beer personages.

The method of calculating the best beers is simple, transparent and easy to follow: Thirty-seven leading brewers, beer retailers and beer writers vote on their favourite 25 beers from last year. Each critic’s number one vote gets 25 points, their number 25 gets one point. The votes are tallied, the winners are announced. Clean, easy and no correspondence will be entered into.

Interestingly, there are 56 new beers in this year’s top 100. I am intrigued to see what they are.

This year you will also be able to try the top 12 as they are unveiled. The participating venues listed below will be tapping the top 12 as they are unveiled, so you can watch the daily announcement here on Brews News, starting next Monday (22 April), and then head on down to try them and see for yourself whether they deserve a spot.
