Critics Choice Top 100 Countdown #11

two birds golden aleNumber eleven in the Critics’ Choice Top 100 is the Two Birds Golden Ale.

The Golden Ale first appeared in the top 100 last year when it came in at 81. It’s a massive jump to 11, which is proof of the hard work the girls at Two Birds have put in over the last 12 months.

Matt Kirkegaard explains that while extreme flavours tend to be seen as the hallmark of craft, it’s the quality beers designed for sociable enjoyment that provide the bed rock of the craft movement. Nicely malted and aromatically hopped, Two Birds Golden Ale offers a flavour dividend and complexity to work well with food, while still leaving your palate intact.

Brewed using ale, wheat and Vienna malts. It is bittered with New Zealand Southern Cross hops while Motueka and Australian Summer hops are used for aroma. Motueka contributes melon and citrus aromas and flavours, while Summer contributes spice and apricot notes.
