The Queensland Homebrewing Conference is very excited to announce that our lead speaker for this year’s conference on July 13, will be none other than Ben Krause of Bridge Road Brewing.

Conceived by Ben in 2004/5, Bridge Road Brewing has received a myriad of awards and is a major player in the growing craft brewing industry in Australia. Not only is Ben a great brewer but also a good bloke to have a talk with.

Ben will be presenting at the conference on his experiences and brewing methods using adjuncts and the odd barrel in brewing. If you want to learn about taking your beers to a new level and trying something different, then come and listen to Ben.

But if barrels, flowers, bees, muesli and fruit toast isn’t out there enough for you, then Josh Uljans from Moondog Brewery should satisfy your appetite.

With beers named Perverse Sexual Amalgam, Black Lung, Melon Gibson and Wet Nurse Tonic, and ingredients including cherry plums, mangoes, passionfruit, muscovado sugar, roast pumpkin, honey coffee and raspberries, expect a presentation that’s very different, from the makers of very different beers.

And to round out the list of great speakers at the conference will be Ian Watson and Wade Curtis.

Ian, formerly of Murrays Brewing, has come home and is now head brewer for Fortitude Brewing at Mount Tamborine. Wade Curtis, our own local brewer from 4 Hearts will also be presenting. Throw in a few local home brewers and the odd product supplier and it will be another packed day of fun and information for brewers of all levels.

The Queensland Homebrewing Conference will be held in Brisbane on Saturday, 13 July 2013. The conference is a one day event based at the Southbank Institute of Technology, followed by a Beer and Food Matching Dinner on Saturday evening. The Homebrewing conference has been designed to provide education (and fun) for brewers at all levels, from kits and bits through to all grainers.

Tickets go on sale on 01 May 2013. For more information, call David Kitchen or Joe Curtis on 07 3879 3882, email us at [email protected] or check out the website at www.theqhc.com.au.

The 2013 Queensland Homebrewing Conference is brought to you by Brewers Choice.

Do you realise the QHC website has not been updated since 2011. You would think that if there is an event in 7 weeks that the website would have current info. Is this typical of the Qld Home Brewing scene or just the QHC?

Hi Spiro, I believe that they are uploading a totally new website within the next week inclusive of ticketing and 2013 conference info. Brewers Choice have been feeding out info through other channels in the meantime.
