Welcome to the Family – FIGJAM IPA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA After repeated requests from customers, FIGJAM IPA is set to become a part of the core Burleigh Brewing range at the end of May with the first batch of 330ml bottles being packaged as a 4-pack. They’ve just come off the bottling line and will be in bars, restaurants and stockists very soon.

Burleigh Brewing’s FIGJAM IPA is a 7%, 70 IBU beer, brewed with a unique blend of specialty malts and five different American hops – all put together with Burleigh’s renowned sense of balance.

Brewmaster, Brennan Fielding, explains, “The India Pale Ale style boasts a hoppy, higher alcohol character and was a style first brewed a couple of hundreds of years ago by the English, to ensure barrels of beer would withstand ocean voyages to India. A couple of centuries on, modern versions of the style are enjoying huge popularity among craft beer drinkers.”

Along with this exciting news is also the introduction of a new packaging concept from Burleigh Brewing Company.

For FIGJAM, we’ve done away with the traditional cardboard 4 pack holder and will be using 100% recyclable plastic handles instead.

At Burleigh Brewing we’re conscious of our impact on the environment and this innovative packaging means that we’re able to reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment. These handles are stamped #2 HDPE plastic and being the most universally recyclable consumer plastic, it can be recycled in your regular wheelie bin!

The handles themselves are manufactured using sustainable, environmentally friendly practices and processes and they are a sustainable low waste alternative for bulk packaging. To put it into perspective, Burleigh Brewing can fit 10 times as many 4 pack holders onto a pallet than they could with traditional cardboard packaging.

We’re also working on some nifty ways to up-cycle rather than re-cycle the handles and with ideas flowing like beer off the tap at the brewery we’re looking forward to sharing some of our creations with the world soon. Scarf holder, spice rack, plastic bag holder or tool hanger – we’d also love to hear your ideas!

It is vitally important to Burleigh Brewing to be brewing delicious beer sustainably and to also be an environmentally responsible member of the Gold Coast community.
