Sydney’s biggest celebration of better beer is back for the third year with 60+ events across eight days this October. The festival will showcase the best of craft beer with tap takeovers, an official launch car park party, Game of Thrones inspired lunches, beer high teas and the return of the sell out Beer Mimics Food experiment that matches high profile chefs with brewers to make a limited edition beer.

So why craft beer? Beer is Australia’s drink of the masses and craft beer is the very best of it.

Sydney Craft Beer Week Festival Director Joel Connolly says the Sydney scene is growing very quickly, with the number of venues stocking better beer increasing on a weekly basis.

“Sydney is very quickly becoming acquainted with craft beer,” Mr Connolly says. “In Sydney alone there are 10 breweries, from Manly to Parramatta. In some restaurants and bars, the beer menu almost as long as the wine list. It’s bloody exciting and our goal at SCBW is to improve the quality of people’s lives by exposing them to top notch beer.”

Connolly says the Beer Mimics Food theme is an exciting experiment that helps connect beer a food in interesting ways.

“Beer has an incredibly diverse range of flavours that most people rarely get exposed to,” he said.

“Beer Mimics Food is a great opportunity to show people just what is possible with beer.”

Other highlights include craft beer crawls, beer and wine blends, mystery bus tours and a mini beer festival in a car park with bands and DJs.
