A big beer day out launches Canberra Beer Week 2013

October 21, 2013 by Media Release

Logo for Canberra Beer Week 2013From Saturday 9th to Friday 15th November, 2013, Canberra Beer Week is set to galvanise the increasing interest in craft beer within Australia by bringing the best brewers and breweries in Australia and the world to Canberra, for a range of beer related events.

The week will kick off with the ‘Beer Day Out’ Craft Beer Festival, to be followed by six days of tap takeovers, beer dinners, beer trivia nights, meet-the-brewer events, good beer discovery tours, Canberra Beer Pong Championships and more.

Beer Day Out

Launching Canberra Beer Week is the Beer Day Out Festival of Beer, featuring craft breweries from Australia and around the world, Canberra’s top restaurants doing street food stalls, kids play area, buses running to and from the city.

Beer Day Out is a family friendly event. Minors (under 18 years of age) will be admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. There will be activities for the kids like bungee trampolines, velcro jumping walls and various performers providing entertainment all afternoon. Rides will attract a small cost on the day.

The day will include prizes and draws and all things BEER – tastings; beer and food matching; beer education sessions; beer chess; beer comedy; and even a beer quiz. With a charity raffle as well (all proceeds going to Hartley Life Care).

There will also be a world record attempt, involving 10,200 VB cans and the construction of a house.

With more than 20 Australian Craft Breweries along with breweries from Italy, England, New Zealand, South Africa, United States and Germany, it’s going to be a mighty ‘BEER DAY OUT’.

Great food will be on offer with a number of Canberra’s top restaurants holding street food stalls; the VeeBees will be playing their favourite tracks in the indoor arena; and a DJ will be spinning summer tunes throughout the day.

Australian breweries taking part this year will include Bridge Road Brewers, Stone & Wood, Feral Brewing, 2 Brothers, Coopers, James Squire, Two Birds Brewing, Hopdog Beerworks, Cascade, Mountain Goat, Red Hill Brewery, Little Creatures, Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company and more to come.
