Beervana 2014 Dates Announced
The 13th annual Beervana will be held in Wellington on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 August 2014 at the Westpac Stadium.
With over 200 craft beers on offer and the opportunity to meet many of New Zealand’s best brewers in person, this is New Zealand’s premier craft beer celebration. Close to 9,500 people attended Beervana in August this year.
Festival Director David Cryer says planning for next year’s event is well underway, with strong interest from brewers and beer lovers to be part of the Beervana celebrations again.
“There are just so many interesting things happening in the craft beer industry right now, with a proliferation of new breweries and specialised craft beer bars opening throughout the country, to meet the ever increasing public interest,” says David Cryer.
“Beervana gives us the opportunity to showcase new and interesting brews as well as award winning and well-known favourites. And with leading Wellington chef Martin Bosley back again as the festival’s culinary director, we are looking forward to the food on offer being every bit as enjoyable too.”
Craft beer is one of the fastest growing food and beverage categories in New Zealand. Total craft beer sales in grocery grew by 33.0 percent in the year to 16 November 2013 on a Moving Average Total (MAT) basis, while total annual beer sales overall were up by 4.5 percent. The Brewers Guild of New Zealand’s latest figures also show there have been at least 15 craft brewery start-ups over the last 12 months.
Tickets will be available for sale from 1 June, with an update early in 2014 on ticket prices.
