Craft Beer Crusaders launch Kickstarter campaign

Media Release

The Craft Beer Crusaders are back…. and they’re thirsty for more

Australia’s very own Craft Beer Crusaders are calling for support to set them off on their second intrepid adventure through the country’s craft beer landscape.

Fresh from brewing their debut series ‘The First Crusade’, which aired on Channel 31 last year, ‘The Search for the Holy Ale’ will take the impassioned pair – known as Mark Iscaro and Daniel Hanna – to more than 30 breweries across the entire East Coast of Australia as they continue their epic journey to find the Holy Grail of craft beer.

The duo have spent recent months researching the bespoke breweries and craft beer bars they will visit during the second series and have dreamt up a host of quirky beer-related escapades (think beer baths, beer waterslides and a night in an old goal) to entertain audiences along the way.

In a bid to get the concept from script to screen, the Crusaders have launched a Kickstarter Campaign to generate financial support for the filming of the new series. Mark and Dan are now calling on members of the industry and craft beer fans to pledge what they can to help fund the next leg of the project and bring their second quest to life.

“We’ve spoken to many television stations and while some have shown a serious interest, they are unable to finance the filming of The Search for the Holy Ale,” explained Mark. “Without our supporters, series one would never have been possible and series two won’t be able to happen at all.”

The Craft Beer Crusaders’ Kickstarter Campaign will provide supporters with various rewards for their pledges, which start at $1, with signed posters, DVDs of the completed second series and a personal mention in the credits all on offer.

Daniel said The Search for the Holy Ale had evolved into an engaging and entertaining journey of discovery. “As well as our humorous antics, we are aiming to educate viewers on the responsible consumption of beer with a focus on appreciation and teach them about beer styles, beer and food pairing and the brewing process,” he said. “As part of bringing the show to the people, we have also started a search for eastern Australia’s best home brewer and we intend to feature one home brewer from each state as we move down from the far north to the cold south.”
