AIBA unveils 2014 collaborator brew ‘Land of Plenty’

This year the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) has for the first time invited three Australian Champion Breweries to create its collaborator brew.

The 2013 winners of the AIBA Australian Champion Breweries – CUB (Champion Large Brewery), Feral Brewing Company (Champion Medium Brewery) and 2 Brothers Brewery (Champion Small Brewery) – have joined together to create ‘Land of Plenty’, an unfiltered lager, brewed using Victorian hops and single origin Western Australian malt.

‘Land of Plenty’ will first appear at the AIBA presentation dinner before featuring at the Great Australian Beer Spectapular and at the Good Beer Week Closing Party.

For the first time in 2014 the exclusive collaborator brew will also be available to purchase via selected retailers at the conclusion of Good Beer Week.

AIBA Chief Judge Brad Rogers said the collaborator brew unveiling is now a firm fixture in the AIBA program.

“The annual debut of the AIBA collaborator brew has become a much anticipated event. This is the third year an AIBA collaboration brew has been created but the first time we have brought three expert brewers into the mix, I can’t wait to try it,” said Mr Rogers.

Winners of the 2014 AIBA will be announced on Thursday, 22 May as part of Good Beer Week, with highly prized trophies from a variety of categories on offer, including Champion Australian and International Beer and Champion Large, Medium and Small Brewery.

The AIBA judging will take place in Melbourne, from Monday, 28 April to Friday, 2 May and will include the inaugural AIBA Media Award, sponsored by Crafty Pint, to recognise Australia’s top media talent specialising in beer and brewing.

Now in its 22nd year, the AIBA is presented annually by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) in conjunction with Federation University Australia, awarding beer and brewing excellence.
