Pink Boots Society Australia Announces Grants

Pink Boots Society logoThe Pink Boots Society Australia in conjunction with the Craft Beer Industry Association is proud to announce an incredible opportunity for two women to receive a $5,500 grant each.

The Pink Boots Society was created to empower women beer professionals to advance their careers in the beer industry through education. The Australian branch of the Pink Boots Society has over the last few years released two beers with the purpose of raising funds to allow women in the beer industry to access educational opportunities. As a result of this fundraising we are in a position to offer two grants, each $5,500, to two women currently earning an income from the Australian beer industry.

“This is an amazing opportunity for a female involved in beer to begin or extend their education, which is one of the core aims of the Pink Boots Society. We are also excited to offer an opportunity to help turn someone’s business idea into reality!” said Jayne Lewis, the president of Australian chapter of the Pink Boots Society.

“We are lucky enough to have a vibrant community of females involved in craft beer in Australia, but we would dearly love to see our numbers grow! We are actively seeking to raise the profile of females in the beer industry and to encourage more females to get involved,” said Jayne.

One grant will be offered to a female brewer and the other to a woman working in some other aspect of the industry whether that be for a brewery, a venue or some other role connected with beer.

There are no specific requirements on how the grant is to be spent other than that the applicant must be able to convince the selection committee that the grant will be used to increase the knowledge of the applicant, help improve the position of women within the beer industry and make a positive contribution to the industry in Australia.

Application details

All applicants must be Pink Boots members. To be eligible for membership and the grant you must be a woman who earns income from beer. If you are not yet a member sign up today here.

Applications must be received no later than the 30th of April using this form.

An important part of the grant process is the pay-it-forward requirement. The mission of the Pink Boots Society is not only to educate our members, but to keep that education flowing so we can all learn from each other. After you complete your course, you will be required to report back to the PBS membership and the beer community at large, about your educational experiences.

Please be sure and pass this information on to all women in your businesses to apply. Winners will be announced day 2 at the Australian Craft Brewers’ Conference on the 23rd of May, 2014.
