Kegstar welcomes Brambles as a 30% shareholder

Kegstar is pleased to announce that Brambles has today acquired a 30% stake in Kegstar Holdings Pty Limited. Brambles, which serves pallet and container pooling customers in more than 50 countries through the CHEP business, will now work with Kegstar founder Adam Trippe-Smith and co-shareholder Shane Bradley to support Kegstar’s growth strategy.

Kegstar is an asset pooling business that rents empty kegs to beer and cider producers who then fill the Kegstar kegs with their product and deliver the full kegs to a licensed venue pouring their product. Once the keg is empty, Kegstar collects the empty kegs and redeploys the kegs to another customer in the same city.

Kegstar launched on 12 December 2012 with 880 kegs, one person and one customer, Stone & Wood. Fifteen months later, Kegstar has: a fleet of 15,000 stainless steel 50-litre kegs produced by Thielmann Container Systems; a team of four people; a national footprint for keg rentals and collections; 34 breweries and cider producers as customers; and 36 logistics partners.

With support from Brambles, Kegstar will increase the size of its operations and geographical reach over the next two years as it pursues its business plan. To start things off, Kegstar intends to double the size of its team and keg fleet in the next three months and plan its launch in New Zealand.

Cheers.
