OK, I may have overstated that just a little. Not because, as host of this dinner, I think it will be a cracker (which I do) but because I have been fortunate enough to spend some quality time with groups of brewers in previous years and find them to be both entertaining and enlightening. There is just something about sitting at a table with beer in hand chatting all things beer and life in general with blokes whose life ambition is to put smiles on my face.
This week, as a lead-up event to Good Beer Week, the AIBA is gathering teams of local and international AIBA Judges at Clifton Hill’s Terminus Hotel for a Hop Off Dinner. Guests will dine ona sensational three course meal matched to beers selected by the two opposing forces representing the AIBA and Good Beer Week. Each team will choose three award-winning beers to match to each course and punters will decide on the most masterful matches.
A chance to mingle and chat with some of the world’s greatest brewers seems almost like an afterthought and, make no mistake, this event will give beer nerds, geeks and couldn’t-care-less-ers years worth of name-dropping material with which to impress and influence.
Bookings are a must and at just $85 for three courses and six beers it’s hard to think of a better value night out. It also counts as a Good Beer Week event that you don’t need to burn GBW Brownie points on. In fact, book for two and take your special ‘other’ to earn extra GBW Brownie points!
