No need to dust off your passport, you can get a taste of New Zealand’s annual beer festival, Beervana, right here in Portland on August 14 at Belmont Station. With 53 craft breweries, Portland is home to more breweries than any other city in the world, making it the Northwest’s very own beervana. In celebration of this, the Wellington beer fest invited three Oregon breweries to participate in a collaborative brew and share ideas and experiences between the two craft beer capitals. As a part of this “Beervana Exchange,” New Zealand brewers came all the way to Portland to create three brews that unite the best of both sides of the equator. Now’s your chance to try the fruits of their labor at a unique tasting event, Belmont Station’sBeervana to Beervana.

Available in a tasting flight of three, the featured collaborative beers are:

PDXNZESB:Gigantic Brewing paired up with Wellington’s8 Wired Brewingto create this citrus fruit hop explosion. A blend of New Zealand Pacifica hops and Oregon’s own Crystal hops; caramel and bready malts balance this brew out. 6.8% ABV.

Nova Pacifica:Portland’s The Commons Brewery meets its match in NZ’sTuatara. The duo crafted a Saison brimming with New Zealand Sauvin and Oregon Meridian hops. 5.2% ABV.

Widmer Brothers Manuka Helles Honey Lager:Widmer Brothers Brewing Company teamed up with beer writer John Holl, editor of All About Beer and author ofTheAmerican Craft Beer Cookbook(Storey) in a media brew. Brewed with New Zealand’s own Manuka honey and Wakatu hops, this lager is a clean and refreshing spin on the classic Munich Helles style. 5.3% ABV.
