It's International Beer Day, drink beer

Editorial comment:

The Brewers Association of Australia and New Zealand, the lobby group for the CUB, DB, Lion and Coopers, has joined the celebrations of International Brewers Day by commissioning artwork to capture the essence of beer.

It’s an evocative and aspirational piece that celebrates the positives of beer. It looks just like an ad for the country’s two biggest beer brands – XXXX Gold and VB, which together comprise almost a third of the beer market – except it features a female in it. [MK]

International Beer Day to be celebrated on 1 August 2014

The Brewers Association reminds beer lovers that International Beer Day will be celebrated in Australia on 1 August 2014.

International Beer Day is a global event founded in 2007 and now celebrated in pubs, bars and backyards in more than 50 countries. The Brewers Association has commissioned an Australian image marking the day entitled ‘Friday afternoon’ painted by artist Rachel Flynn of Mudgee in New South Wales.

This is attached for media use.

“Rachel’s image is so familiar of a moment shared at the end of the day in a city backyard or the bush”, says Brewers Association CEO, Mrs. Denita Wawn.

An emerging trend is the matching of seasonal foods with beers as appreciation increases of the variety of both heritage and new brews now available.

“Beer is consumed responsibly by millions of Australians and adds much to the social fabric of this country. And our industry is a proud supporter of Drinkwise which targets alcohol misuse particularly amongst young people”, said Mrs. Wawn.
