LOCALS and visitors on the Redcliffe Peninsula can enjoy a decadent evening of food, wine and beer next month, as Mon Komo Hotel hosts a crafty ‘Tales, Ales and Barrels’ dinner event with special guest speaker and renowned master brewer Dr Charles ‘Chuck’ Hahn.

The award-winning dining, entertainment and function venue will once again present the ‘tales and ales’ inspired event on Thursday 5th February, which will see guests learn the fine art of pairing quality food with craft beer and premium wine selections.

Commencing at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and held out on the Cabana Bar’s Terrace, the ‘Tales, Ales and Barrels’ Dinner will welcome special guest, prominent master brewer, Dr Chuck Hahn to host the evening.

Dr Chuck Hahn, original founder of Hahn Brewery now Malt Shovel Brewery, will take guests on a special epicurean journey, as they indulge in a delicious three course menu paired with matching wines and craft beer from Australia’s leading labels.

With wine generally the popular choice for fine food pairing, the upcoming dinner event will showcase how new and flavoursome craft beers can be an alternate for a glass of red or white.

The dinner will feature a selection of beers from Malt Shovel Brewery’s James Squire range, which according to the company have been purposely crafted to be savoured and enjoyed with fine foods.

Dr Hahn will educate guests on the importance and art behind choosing the right beer when dining, particularly how to match the flavour intensity of each blend with the selected dish.

The well-known ‘Brewmaster’ will also speak on his history within the industry, and delve deeper into the leading fine beer brand and Australia’s growing craft beer segment.

Sure to appeal to the tastes of many, Mon Komo Hotel’s Director of Hospitality Matt Newberry said he was looking forward to the upcoming event, and welcoming the internationally renowned brewer to the venue.

“Last year’s event was a huge success, attracting a great audience of food and wine enthusiasts,” Mr Newberry said.

“While wine and food pairing is conventional, there is also a lot to learn about the art of matching craft-style beers with quality food and as craft brews are growing in popularity and range across Australia, this is a dinner with a difference.

“According to Dr Chuck Hahn, you can match craft beer flavours with far more food flavours than wines – an interesting point, among many others that he will speak about on the night.

“Like our wine dinners, each wine and beer has been specially selected to match the flavours, weight and texture of each dish. By providing a glass of both, diners will essentially be able to sample the difference between a quality wine and craft beer.

“This will allow guests to experience and decipher which pairs best on their palate, making for an enjoyable and educational evening of food, wine and beer appreciation.”

Attendees of the Tales, Ales and Barrels Dinner will be served a delectable three course menu, designed by Mon Komo Hotel’s chef Aldrin Cinco and perfectly paired with specially-selected wines from various vineyards and craft beers from the popular James Squire range.

Mon Komo Hotel’s Tales, Ales and Barrels Dinner will be held on Thursday 5th February at 6.30pm. Tickets are $69.00 per person and include a three course menu, paired with beer and wine offerings.
