YH logo of Young HenrysSydney’s extraordinary new six-hectare foreshore park, Barangaroo Reserve, will come to life in September for the first installment of the Barangaroo Welcome Celebration, a three month program of free music, art, talks, family events and giant picnics overlooking Sydney Harbour.

Kicking off THIS Sunday the 6th of September (and running through until the first Sunday of November), Sydney’s loveable inner westies Young Henrys will be in attendance running two beer bars and a gin station, keeping everyone hydrated throughout the day!

When not taking in the incredible sights of this stunning location, the gang from Young Henrys will be serving their bespoke ‘Welcome Brew’, and their critically acclaimed ‘NobleCutSmallBatch’gin from the Draft & Cutaway bars downstairs; both a must to visit on any sunny day!

The 4% ‘Welcome Brew’ copper ale was made in collaboration with Clarence Slockee, the Aboriginal Education Officer at the Botanic Gardens, who after consulting to get an idea of what foods might have been available around the harbour at the time of the first Australians, Young Henrys & Clarence specifically crafted the Welcome Brew for the occasion with a selection of native ingredients.

Richard Adamson of Young Henrys says of the Welcome Brew: “To complement the nutty, slightly roasted character of the wattle seed we added Australian noble like hops of Helga and Sylva along with the earthy, spicy notes of Ella. The result is a subtle, bright and lovely easy drinking ale that is sure to please the picnickers at Barangaroo”.

September visitors will also enjoy additional free performances by some of Australia’s leading contemporary musicians and entertainers, including Casey Donovan and Pirra (September 6), Marcus Corowa (September 13, 26), Leah Flanagan (September 12, 20, 27) and Koomurri Dancers (September 12, 19 and 26).

Food will be available for purchase alongside drinks from Young Henrys and others.

The Welcome Party is a free event, however registrations are essential.
