Nola Bar, a New Orleans-inspired venue currently under construction in Adelaide CBD, raised a total of $17,500 for its 16-tap system, exceeding the $15,000 target.
“It went through a bit of a lull in the middle, but I guess they always do. People saw the urgency at the end and got involved,” co-founder Josh Talbot told Australian Brews News.
He attributed the campaign’s success to its inclusion of instant rewards and ‘money can’t buy’ experiences.
“It can’t be seen as a donation,” he said.
But Talbot stressed that the campaign was about more than simply raising capital to pay for the taps and keep them independent.
“The whole reason we did it was to get community support behind us and give people the feeling of being involved in the bar,” he said.
Nola Bar will open in early November, pending some final liquor licensing hurdles.
