Craft brewers stream added to upcoming IBD conference

IBDAsiaPac2016The 2016 IBD Asia Pacific Convention has structured itstechnical programme to encourage craft brewer participation.

The Institute of Brewing and Distillingisoffering employees of craft brewing companies a special two day package at a significantly discounted rate, for events Monday 14th March and Tuesday 15th March.

Peter David of the organising committee said that the conference will have plenty of educational and networking opprtunities for craft brewers.

“Monday’s full day technical program has presentations on topics from malt and yeast through to hygiene and education specifically aimed at the craft sector,” he said.

“In the evening attendeesare also invited to attend the welcome function which will be held at the Ivy Bar, a short walk from the Westin Hotel.

“Tuesday’s main plenary session willseemany presentations of interest to craft brewers plus theywill have access to poster presentations and a trade exhibition featuring more than 50 suppliers.

“Finally the package culminates witha beer and food tasting event featuring beers from seven local breweries, matched with fine Sydney foods – held at the Martin Place Bar, again a short walk from the Westin Hotel,” Peter said.

Chris Willcock, head brewer at 4 Pines Brewer and also a member of the organising committee, said theInstitute of Brewing & Distilling has over 100 years of brewing knowledge to share.

“It is one of the biggest providers of brewing education worldwide and the Asia Pacific Conference comes around every couple of years,” he said.

“Itis one of the best opportunities in Australia and New Zealand to catch up with a whole lot of fellow brewers and suppliers and to hear about what’s happening at the cutting edge of brewing.

“The conference this year will be devoting the entire first day to craft brewing to encourage participation from the growing and vibrant Craft Beer community.

“The Cryer Malt Craft Brewers Forum is a full day of seminars and discussions featuring Professor Charlie Bamforth and some of the best minds in the industry.”
