The new owner of St Peters Brewery in Sydney’s Inner West is set to launch a beer brand, Brickworks.
Brickworks is to be established by Martin Roberts, who purchased the St Peters Brewery from founder Matt Donelan two months ago.
An IT veteran who has dabbled in brewing at various stages of his career, Roberts told Australian Brews News he had long had his eye on the St Peters Brewery, which had been on the market since 2013.
He is now offering small batch contract brewing services under the St Peters name, ahead of launching his own Brickworks brand, which is named in honour of the local industrial landmark.
“We’re in the shadow of the chimneys there,” Roberts said.
He said he will eventually apply to the local council to open a retail outlet and tasting bar at the site.
St Peters has an eight hectolitre brewhouse with five fermenters and five conditioning tanks, as well as a manual bottling line.
