Mismatch Brewing Company and three other South Australian beverage producers have finalised their plan to create a combined production facility and visitor experience in the Adelaide Hills.

Mismatch, The Hills Cider Company, juice maker Ashton Valley Fresh and Adelaide Hills Distillery have combined forces to create “the ultimate eating and drinking destination”, slated to open in 2017.

They were awarded a $950,000 grant under the South Australian Government’s Regional Development Fund to establish the facility between Nairne and Woodside.

The $4.5 million project will create a unique tourism experience incorporating new brewery facilities for Mismatch Brewery Co, a distillery for the Adelaide Hills Distillery producing premium and luxury spirits, and a cellar door outlet for all four brands.

There will also be facilities to host large events and a farm shop stocking local products.

Mismatch Brewing co-founder Ewan Brereton told Australian Brews News that the facility is the realisation of a dream.

“We’re incredibly excited. It’s pretty hard to tell your story when you don’t have a home. People want to come and see you, they want to experience you,” he said.

Mismatch has contract brewed with several different providers since launching in late 2013.

Brereton said it had been challenging to ensure a consistent supply of high quality product as a contract brewer.

“I can’t actually describe how much I can’t wait to have control. That’s the biggest thing, just having control of what you’re producing,” he said.

Mismatch will have a 35-hectolitre brewhouse and access to packaging facilities shared by all businesses, which are still being finalised.

The SA Government said the ‘Premium Adelaide Hills Beverage Experience’ supports its economic priorities of ‘Premium food and wine produced in our clean environment and exported to the world’ and ‘South Australia – a growing destination choice for international and domestic travellers’.

The project will create 35 ongoing positions.
