Carlton & United Breweries CEO Ari Mervis will end his 27-year stint with SABMiller when Anheuser-Busch InBev takes control on October 10.

In an internal memorandum, Mervis told CUB employees that AB InBev is set to establish a new regional zone comprising Australia, India and South East Asia, which will be headquartered in Melbourne.

Jan Craps, who currently heads up AB InBev Canada, will be appointed as Zone President for the new region, to be known as ‘Asia Pacific South’.

“As a consequence of the acquisition I will relinquish my position and will be leaving the company at change of control,” Mervis said.

“I have been most fortunate to have spent the last 27 years with SABMiller, and have enjoyed a career which has been incredibly enjoyable and rewarding.”

Mervis has been CEO of CUB and managing director SABMiller Asia Pacific since December 2011.
