Shareholders vote up Megabrew

ABInBev logoThe Megabrew transaction has passed its final hurdle, with shareholders of both Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller giving it their approval.

AB InBev also announced that the combined group will retain the name Anheuser-Busch InBev following completion.

Commenting on the shareholder vote, Carlos Brito, CEO of AB InBev said: “We are pleased that our shareholders’ vote brings us one step closer to combining our companies, teams, strong heritage and passion for brewing. We are committed to driving long-term growth and creating value for all our stakeholders.”

In Australia, the AB InBev brands join new subsidiary Carlton & United Breweries’ portfolio on October 1, ahead of change of control happening on October 10.
