Sydney officially welcomed another brewery to its ranks last week, as Glebe’s Staves celebrated its newfound brewpub status.
Beer media and brewers from local outfits including Batch, 4 Pines and Shenanigans attended the venue to try out an interesting line-up of beers developed by head brewer, Liam Jackson.
They ranged from English-style standards such as a Best Bitter, an American IPA, some Belgian-influenced beers using Ardennes yeast, and a show-stopping nine per cent ABV Belgian Black IPA.
Staves has been trading as a craft beer bar since opening to the public in October 2015.
Founder Steve Drissell has always intended to convert the venue into a brewpub, since he first conceptualised it almost four years ago.
Now this goal has been achieved with the successful commissioning of a small brewery system, Staves will have two guest taps alongside an extensive range of its own beers.
Staves Brewery is located at 4-8 Grose St, Glebe, behind Broadway Shopping Centre.
