Feral ready for IPA onslaught

Fanta Pants

Feral Brewing is releasing Fantapants Imperial Red IPA in bottles, coinciding with its nationwide 18-tap IPA Showcase.

A popular beer in draught form, Fanta Pants will be available in 330ml bottles as Feral’s next Brewpub Series release, starting in March.

The beer will also feature in Feral’s IPA Showcase, the largest IPA tap takeover in the history of Australian craft beer.

The event starts Thursday February 23 in WA, while eastern states SA, VIC, NSW, QLD and TAS will be tapped on Thursday 2nd March.

According to Feral, the Nationwide Feral IPA Showcase is a tribute to the growing demand of IPAs in the Australian craft beer market, with the style making up 24 of the GABS 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2016.

“Who would have thought we would have venues knocking down our door to showcase 16+ of our IPA’s on tap at one time, the consumer is far more adventurous than five or even two years ago,” said Feral national sales manager, Steve Finney.

“Hop Hog has morphed into what we now consider a big American style Pale Ale.

“Ninety per cent of consumers still consider Hop Hog to be a very challenging beer, but with time and the evolution of our consumers’ palates, we are now able to brew, release and sell bolder, hoppier, dryer, higher ABV IPAs.

“This shift also influences how we choose to market certain beer styles.”
