Philter searching for a home

Philter’s debut XPA

New Sydney outfit Philter Brewing expects to open its own inner west brewing facility before 2017 is out.

Philter has been founded by head brewer Sam Fuss, formerly of Young Henrys and Little Creatures, as well as drinks industry professional Stefan Constantoulas and Mick Neil, who has a background in surf and skate apparel.

The company recently launched its first beer, Philter XPA, a naturally cloudy, easy-drinking XPA showcasing tropical new world hops.

“We’re looking to buy a site, and they’re few and far between at the moment unfortunately,” Fuss told Brews News.

“We need a home, so I think we’re going to look for something in the interim.”

Marrickville is the spiritual home for Philter, so the team is looking for a property somewhere in the vicinity.

In the interim, Fuss is brewing the Philter beers at Hope Brewhouse in the Hunter Valley, with a follow-up to the XPA due on June 19.

“We’re getting great traction, people are loving the beers,” she said.
